Vision Statement

It is the mission of the RoughRider soccer organization to inspire excellence in every aspect of our players lives. We personally involve ourselves in the lives of our players, becoming acquainted with their hopes and dreams, fears and insecurities. We will generously share with them the qualities and character traits which will give the opportunity to be successful throughout their lives, while challenging them to reach beyond their grasp.

The Way

“It’s not where you coach, it’s WHY you coach.”

As a member of the Colorado RoughRiders, you will have access to a wealth of resources, opportunities, and assistance through our highly experienced and professional staff. The “RoughRider Way” is a collective method of soccer coaching and play; a system that embodies more than just the type of soccer skills and techniques we teach on the pitch. It reaches beyond the notions of winning; and instead challenges players to focus on success and fulfillment of both on and off the pitch achievements.

The RoughRider Way shapes the very essence of our development program. It incorporates player welfare, integrity, individual effort, academic support and college preparation, sportsmanship, work ethic, brand loyalty, and an unparalleled sense of honor and respect for the game.

Our focus extends beyond giving kids the opportunity to succeed in soccer - we want kids to succeed in their futures.

The Development Model

RoughRiders is striving to be the best Soccer Club in the country by changing the current youth soccer culture for our players. Our club is player-centric. We are able to focus our attention on player development and put less emphasis on team success by connecting our teams together with this common curriculum and encouraging player movement and training opportunities within the club. We also continue to provide better opportunities for soccer development by stressing individual creativity and free play over regimented team structure and team results. By following the RoughRider Way, our model for successful player development, we will build our player’s self-esteem and creative abilities and accelerate the learning process.

College placement for our players will remain a top priority and we aim to place a large number of our players into college programs by developing technically sound players, educating them on the college recruitment process via our college preparation program, and networking with our friends in the industry.

Curriculum

The RoughRider soccer curriculum provides each player the opportunity to play soccer in a supportive and rewarding environment that emphasizes player development in a challenging, yet enjoyable way. It is a superior alternative to other team programs and offers Boys and Girls age U12-U19 the opportunity for advanced team development in soccer through a detailed progressive curriculum.

The RoughRider soccer curriculum is committed to bringing more technical expertise into each specific age-group program, creating a curriculum of instruction specific to developmental needs at each age group level. The curriculum has the focused objective of developing players and preparing those players for the game at the highest competitive level.

The curriculum is based on key developmental needs that have been identified for each age group. The program is divided into modules that follow a progressive curriculum that focuses on fundamentals, applied techniques, and spatial awareness in game situations. The RoughRider coaching staff will follow the coaching curriculum developing the technical, tactical, physical, and mental components of the game in an age appropriate manner. Through this curriculum, coaches are able to lead and develop players and teams effectively and efficiently in a way that best fits their developmental needs.
