About Trebol

History

For well more than a decade, soccer has been the fastest growing youth sport in the United States.  More children in Colorado participate in recreational and competitive soccer than any other sport.  In 1995, through the efforts of Pancho Hansen and local parents, the Trebol Soccer Club formed and competed within the framework of the City of Lafayette's recreation program as a more competitive option for recreation players.

In the spring of 1995, the Trebol Soccer Club began its split from the city as it became apparent the club's vision of "traveling teams," more focused training, and a higher competition level of play conflicted with the city's vision to provide every child a place to play.  By the fall of 1996, the Trebol Soccer Club was independent of the City of Lafayette Recreation Department and was incorporated in February of 1997 with a Board of Directors.  The club felt there was a need and a purpose to provide the children of Lafayette, and the surrounding communities, a place to play soccer in a healthy and nurturing environment.  In December of 1997 the club received its non-profit status as a 501c3 corporation.

Mission

Our mission is to establish and maintain an inclusive and competitive soccer program(s), and to provide an opportunity for families of all ethnic, racial or economic backgrounds to pursue an interest in soccer and to develop ideals of fun, sportsmanship and global citizenship.  Trebol strives to attain its mission within the bounds of affordable fees for its participating families.  We strongly believe that absolutely no child should be prevented from playing soccer due to financial hardships.  Therefore, our club offers scholarships, on a financial need basis, to those families in need.  More than 14% of our players will receive some form of need based scholarship.

People

The Trebol Soccer Club is driven by the volunteer efforts of hundreds of people throughout the local communities.  Their efforts, and ongoing operations of the club, are led by Trebol's Key Staff, a group of highly-motivated, experienced, and respected individuals well-known in local soccer circles.

Our club runs a week long summer soccer camp, and since 2001 players from the Colorado Rapids MLS team have participated in designing and running the camp.

Membership & Competition

The Trebol Soccer Club is a member of the Colorado State Youth Soccer Association (CYS) which allows our teams to travel to various locations within the state of Colorado and southern Wyoming for our "regular" weekend games.  Our teams usually practice at least twice a week, with an occasional third day of practice during the week.  For the competitive and intermediate teams our games are scheduled through the CYS and are typically played on Saturdays.

Our teams compete locally, regionally and nationally.

Community Teamwork
There is something special about being a Trebol player and being part of the Trebol Family. Our roots are in being a community-based organization. It is our goal to foster good citizenship within our players and the importance of "giving back" through volunteering. Trebol families have served Sister Carmen's Community Center, Louisville Adopt-A-Park, Lafayette Library, Lafayette Open Space Day and many other wonderful non-profit organizations and service projects.
