Marcelo Balboa

BIO: Marcelo is a native of Cerritos, California.  After playing in college at San Diego State University, Marcelo became a key member of the American defense in the 1990 and the 1994 FIFA World Cups. He was named U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year in 1992 and again in 1994. In 1995, he became the first U.S. national player to earn 100 caps.

 

Marcelo played for Leon in the Mexican League in 1995 and 1996, before signing with Major League Soccer Colorado Rapids. Marcelo played six seasons for the Rapids, leading as the team's all-time leader in many statistical categories. In 1998, he

became one of the first U.S. players to have play in three World Cups.

 

Marcelo ended his playing career with 128 caps and 13 goals, and his MLS career

with 24 goals and 23 assists in 152 games. In 2005, Marcelo was named to the MLS All-Time Bext XI. He was also elected to the National Socer Hall of Fame on the

first ballot.  Marcelo was known for his bicycle kick goal for the Rapids in 2000 against the Columbus Crew.

 

As Trebol's Executive Director Balboa will continue his serve on the Colorado Youth Soccer Board of Directors and the United States Soccer Federation Athletes Board, as well as his soccer broadcasts on radio and television. Balboa's dedication, work ethic and highly-regarded international, national and local status as an outstanding player, coach, and soccer analyst was set early on by his family, club and community environments

Pancho Hansen

BIO: Pancho is native of Huehuetan, Chiapas, Mexico. He played soccer professionally in Mexico in 1976 and 1977. He was a professional member of Futbol Sala from 1978-82.  He received his “A” license certification from the Mexican Futbol Federation and coached for the Chalco professional team and Ibero Americana College.

 

In 1988 he moved to Lafayette, in Boulder County Colorado and worked for the City of Lafayette as a recreational youth soccer instructor.  From 1991 to 1996 he was coaching Guadalajara Soccer Club in Denver, Colorado.  He currently is the instructor for Boulder County's Lafayette youth and adult recreational programs.  During that time, Pancho founded Lafayette’s Pee Wee soccer program for kids ages 4-5 and Tiny Tyke program for kids three years old.

 

Pancho founded Trebol Soccer Club in 1995 and has continued to serve as the club’s Coaching Director since this time.  He is a “C” licensed coach with USYSA.

BIO:  Karen, a Boulder County native, has worked with kids and soccer for nearly 15 years.  Starting as a volunteer for the City of Lafayette Pee Wee Soccer program in 1993 she now is youth sports supervisor for the city.  Karen assisted in developing the Lafayette’s Pee Wee and

Tiny Tyke program.

 

As Youth Sports Supervisor for the City of Lafayette she oversees youth sports programs, recruitment, training, league organization, camp organization and coaching.  The Lafayette Recreation programs have 600 kids participating in soccer and 550 kids playing basketball.

 

Karen was instrumental in the formation of Trebol Soccer Club.  She began working with Trebol as the club registrar and volunteer coach of several teams.  She is now coaching director for developmental teams and intermediate teams.  Karen has a “D” license with USYSA and is also a member of CYS recreational committee.

Temo Gonzalez

Temo was born in Boulder, and grew up in Lafayette playing his youth soccer for Pancho Hansen and the Trebol Soccer Club. After four years at Centaurus High School, Temo went on to play soccer at the collegiate level at three different universities before finishing up at the University of Montevallo in Alabama.

 

In 2007 at Montevallo, the falcons made it all the way to the NCAA final four. After college, Temo became the assistant coaching director for Trebol, and he currently holds the same position.

 

Temo holds a national "D" coaching license.

Joshua Shemroske

Joshua Lee Shemroske started playing soccer at age 6. He played Recreation League soccer from age 6-11.

 

Josh moved to playing goalkeeper his sophomore year at High Mowing School, Wilton NH.

 

During the Fall of 98, as a Junior, Josh was the leading scorer and played center midfield.  He received Best Offensive player honors Fall 99.  As a senior he played Striker, was team captain, and lead-scorer with MVP honors.

Nick Seeley has been in and around soccer for over 15 years. He played at the collegiate level and with the Olympic Development team in CO.  Most recently he has coached at Niwot High School and at Alexander Dawson School as a goalkeeper coach.
